What excites you most about running the 2014 TCS New York City Marathon?
Seeing all the hard training payoff by running around the most amazing city
What is your favorite place to run and why?
Central park. Perfect distance and an oasis in the middle of the fastest pace city on earth
If you run with music, what are your favorite artists or songs to listen to?
I like a broad mix of classic rock, hip hop and alternative. It mixes the pace and energy to match the long distances, intense hills, and pick-me-ups in between
What is your favorite post-run meal?
Nicoise salad. Perfect mix of protein, greens, and carbs. I’m otherwise a vegetarian.
When did your relationship with running begin and why?
I was living in Germany and started running in the Gruenwald (forest) in Berlin. I’d get lost in my mind, and the forest, and before I knew it my running went from 20 minutes to 60. It is the only thing that helps me clear my mind and work out energy. When I came back and the Central Park loop became routine, it was time to sign up for my first half marathon.
Do you have any pre-race rituals or superstitions, if so, please explain?
Need to go to the bathroom before you start. If you’ve ever run with cramps and couldn’t find a bathroom, no further explanation needed.
It seems unreal, but yet I know it’s possible.
