What event are you running with Team for Kids?
The 2015 United Airlines NYC Half!
What is your favorite place to run and why?
Central Park has always been my favorite place in town, period. Running in the park enhances every visit.
If you run with music, what are your favorite artists or songs to listen to?
I’ve been training with a lot of Rush, Fun, Foo Fighters, Imagine Dragons, and Fitz & the Tantrums.
What is your favorite post-run meal?
I shouldn’t say, but bacon cheeseburgers & deep dish pizza make me feel like I “earned” a reward.
When did your relationship with running begin and why?
In November of 1999, I was watching the NYC Marathoners stream past me on 1st Avenue, and decided then & there I needed to add the race to my bucket list. I challenged myself, if I could do 3 miles the following morning, I’d train for the 26.2. And I was fortunate enough to run/complete the race in 2000.
Do you have any pre-race rituals or superstitions, if so, please explain?
Just trying to stay warm.
Why did you choose to run this event?
It was part of my New Year’s resolution to get back in “fighting” shape.
Tell us a little more about yourself
I’m Sports Director and Morning Drive Anchor for 1010 WINS radio, in addition to serving as an Adjunct Professor of Mass Communications at St. John’s University in Queens.
What excites you most about running your event with Team for Kids?
I’m most excited about having a chance to help the kids. The challenge of getting back in shape, 15 years removed from my lone NYC Marathon, was also alluring. The course and the crowd are what make any race in the greatest city in the world that much more special.
