What event are you running with Team for Kids?
The 2015 United Airlines NYC Half!

What is your favorite place to run and why?
Spring Lake Boardwalk. I grew up at the Jersey Shore, and nothing is more awesome than jogging on the boards with the view and beautiful sound of the ocean.

If you run with music, what are your favorite artists or songs to listen to?
Anything with a good beat. I actually need help updating my iPod, so any recommendations on music, please feel free to share. I am kind of out of the loop these days with music thanks to my 2 year old and 6 month old 🙂

What is your favorite post-run meal?
Bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich.

When did your relationship with running begin and why?
My relationship with running started in 2011 when I signed up for a 10K. I signed up as motivation to get in shape for my wedding. I remember the high I had when I crossed the finish line. It was an incredible feeling. Since then I have done a few runs here and there.

Do you have any pre-race rituals or superstitions, if so, please explain?
None at the moment.

Why did you choose to run this event?
I tried signing up for the NYC Half Marathon last year through the lottery and I did not get in. This time last year, I found out I was pregnant with my second child, so I thought I was probably better off I did not get to run it. My daughter, Elin was born 2 months early on July 8th and I have to say that was the most scariest and stressful time in my life. Her arrival was very unexpected, and she was in the NICU for 5 weeks. I was by her side almost every day, as my husband was home taking care of our now 2 year old. I honestly do not know how I got through it, but being at the other end of it, I look at her and I see a fighter. Elin has inspired me to sign up to run the United Airlines NYC Half.

Tell us a little more about yourself
Born in NYC and raised on the Jersey Shore. When I am not running around after my two little ones, I enjoy a run to clear my head. I also am obsessed with the Barre workout, spending time with family and good friends, reading, and traveling.

What excites you most about running your event with Team for Kids?
What excites me most is knowing I will be making an impact on children in the NYC area and around the country. Exercise and physical activity was such a big part of my childhood and not only is it good for the heart and soul, but it also helps with confidence, self-esteem, and team work.
