What event are you running with Team for Kids?
The 2016 Airbnb Brooklyn Half!
What excites you most about running your event with Team for Kids?
This will be my first half marathon and I’m excited to do it throughout Brooklyn, where I live.
Where is your favorite place to run and why?
I like to run through my neighborhood, South Slope, along 6th Avenue. I also like to run on the wide side in Manhattan – it’s a beautiful view!
If you run with music, what are your favorite artists or songs to listen to?
I actually prefer to listen to podcasts while I run. The main culprit of my fatigue comes from my mind, so I like to have it busy while I run. A few of my favorite podcasts are This American Life, Radiolab, Serial, The New Yorker Radio Hour, and Death Sex & Money.
What is your favorite post-run meal?
I like protein-heavy meals after a run. Eggs and avocados are the perfect combination.
When did your relationship with running begin and why?
I have played sports since I was young, so once I graduated high school I needed an outlet for physical activity and a way to stay in shape, so I started running. I have an inconsistent relationship with running because I also do yoga, barre, and play in a soccer league. I’m excited to focus on it before the half.
Do you have any pre-race rituals or superstitions, if so, please explain?
I carefully choose what I wear for a race and double check all my gear many times.
Why did you choose to run this event with TFK?
A few friends are also running the event, and they encouraged me to sign up. I’ve never run a half marathon before, or even run 13 miles at once, so it’s all an adventure for me.
