What excites you most about running your event with Team for Kids?
I am a pediatric physical therapist and kids are my life. This is my first marathon running for a charity and I’m excited to raise money for a good cause. It gives me motivation to run my 3rd marathon!
What is your favorite place to run and why?
Any place new… I love exploring and the great outdoors so I love being able to see different places and discovering new sites through running.
If you run with music, what are your favorite artists or songs to listen to?
Anything upbeat! Lots of pop and oldies!
What is your favorite post-run meal?
Protein!!! Usually a big salad with chicken or salmon.
When did your relationship with running begin and why?
I hated running but I really wanted to run the Peachtree Road Race so my Dad made me train. He’s a big runner running Peachtree every year and multiple marathons. After Peachtree, it was such a high finishing; my friend asked me to do a half marathon. My Dad told me that would be very hard for me and to think twice. I think he knew that would subconsciously push me harder to train and run so I ran the Atlanta half marathon that year. What a whirlwind experience? Then, my same friend wanted to run a marathon and my Dad had a similar reaction saying it would be so hard and much harder to train for then a half. His comments motivated to run and the next year I ran the Chicago marathon. I ran it and loved it. Races are such a thrill that I love.
Do you have any pre-race rituals or superstitions, if so, please explain?
Why did you choose to run this event with Team for Kids?
It’s important to me because I believe in raising money for any programs supporting youth. Children are the future and we have the power to help and influence them in a positive way. We have to help pave the way for a bright future!
